Cool Tool - Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows
No question, my new fave cool tool is: Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows (let's just call it Photo Story 3)
Microsoft is not shy in its description: "Bring your digital photos to life--experience your photos in amazing new ways." I say "What I really want to do is direct...."
The tagline is "make show-n-tell cool again"...so it's not surprising that I learned about PS3 from a little girl who came to Reference Desk, hoping we had it installed like at her school. (Sadly not) Clearly it's being marketed to educators.
PS3 Is much better than trying to use PowerPoint for or Captivate for a presentation which is mainly images--which also avoids having to upload any pps slideshows to something like SlideShare. PS3 lets you put together a slideshow with its own uploader, then you can drag and drop them in the order you want. It even has a Photo Editor built in. I wouldn't choose it for photos which need lots of cropping or tricky editing--but if you're trying to pull together something for a training class in a hurry--it's fine.
So you import the photos -- then you can add text or captions OR you can even record your own voiceover narration, assuming you have a microphone. If not, you may add/create background music as a final touch to the "photos plus customized motion" or what has become your "movie."
That's right -- it makes a movie for you! You can save it in a number of video formats. With Blogger, you can import it right into a blog post. See Blogger Help. Note that Videos uploaded through Blogger are hosted on Google Video, and are kept private--they will not be included in Google Video search indexes.
